Awards

In 2002 Chopsticks was awarded The Duke of York's Community Initiative award for its achievements in the community.  This follows a visit by the Duke of York Award assessors to the workshop to assess the work it has been involved with since forming in 1995.

Following a further assessment in 2005 Chopsticks was granted The Duke of York's Community Initiative 'Higher Award' to recognise our continued development.

HRH The Duke of York’s Community Initiative award recognises excellence in community projects in Yorkshire and aims to encourage the widest development of high quality Community Spirit. Projects must be owned by the community it serves and demonstrate success in improving quality of life and sense of community.

The award can be used as a kite mark to give a prestigious boost to funding applications, and be part of a network of excellence and "best practice' with other award winners. Chopsticks can use the Duke of York's Initiative logo on letter headings and printed materials.

For more information about The Duke of York's Community Initiative contact St. William's Foundation, 5, College St, York, on 01904 557235.

In 2004 in the Business Enterprise Awards Chopsticks was the winner of the Social Entrepreneur of the Year award.
