Our Members

The sole reason Chopsticks exists is to support vulnerable adults in a safe work environment to and help them achieve their full potential. We work closely with individuals to identify their personal interests and develop skills within their capability. Our members consider this their job and at the end of the month they all receive a subsistence payment. We offer more than just a workplace. We provide a safe, social environment where friendships are made and independence is built on and encouraged.

Chopsticks is on the North Yorkshire County Council preferred provider list, with eligible clients being able to access the service via a personal independence payment. Alternatively, if a client has direct payment or is self-funding, they can be invoiced by us monthly for services received.

We enjoy going out on day trips twice a year to say thank you to our members for all their hard work. Going to the seaside for fish and chips is often a popular choice, but we also go places like Flamingo Land, Forbidden Corner and Beamish. At Christmas time we throw a great party with fun games, party food and a disco.

If you know someone who would benefit from a day service like chopsticks, and/or you would like to visit us, please contact us for more information on 01609 761661. If chopsticks seems like a place you would like to get involved in, please see our volunteer page.
