Help us make a difference

Chopsticks is powered by people – staff, volunteers and supporters who believe in inclusion, purpose and community.

Whether you want to work with us, volunteer your time or get involved in another way, we’d love to hear from you. We’re always looking for practical, caring people who want to help adults with learning disabilities.

Three people standing on a sidewalk, two women and a young man in a wheelchair. One woman is wearing an orange jacket, and the other woman is in a black jacket. The young man in the wheelchair is in a red and black jacket. They are smiling and talking, with a parking lot and a billboard in the background on a sunny day.

Be part of a supportive, hands-on environment where adults with learning disabilities can grow skills, gain confidence and be part of a real working team.

Members take part in practical tasks like kindling production, woodwork, gardening and craft projects — all with the right support to build independence and friendship.

If you’re 18+ and looking for purposeful day opportunities, we’d be happy to arrange a visit or taster session so you can experience life at Chopsticks.

Join as a volunteer

Our volunteers make a huge difference — from helping in the workshop or garden to supporting events and collections.

You don’t need experience, just a willingness to get involved and a few spare hours to share your skills.

Volunteering with Chopsticks is flexible and rewarding, and a good way to support your community.

We’re especially looking for help with:

  • Workshop or garden support (Tuesdays to Thursdays)

  • Event days and fundraisers

  • Marketing or fundraising support (flexible)

Join as a trustee

Our trustees guide the future of Chopsticks. They bring experience in areas like finance, governance, digital, HR and community engagement — and a shared belief in inclusion and opportunity.

It’s a voluntary role that makes a genuine difference, helping shape the organisation’s long-term direction and sustainability.

If you’re passionate about what we do, we’d love to hear from you.

Join as staff

Our staff team keeps Chopsticks running day to day — supporting members, managing projects and keeping the workshops safe and productive.

Even when we don’t have vacancies, we’re always happy to hear from people who’d like to join us in the future.

  • (but we’d still love to hear from you)

We don’t have any staff vacancies available at the moment — but we’re always happy to hear from people who are interested in joining the team in the future.

If you'd like us to keep your details on file, or if you have skills you think could support our work, feel free to contact us or give us a call.

We’ll post any future opportunities here and on our social media pages.
